SEMARTECH has set high standard on Calabar-Itu Highway - Ita Enang

Construction work on the Calabar-Itu Highway done by SEMARTECH Nigeria Limited has been thumbed up by Senator Ita Enang, who paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the Cross River State stretch of the project, over the weekend.

Interacting with journalists said the construction firm has performed creditably, and urged the workers to maintain the set standard.
He even highlighted that some multinational construction firms in Akwa Ibom State and Nigeria may have to emulate the standard set by the company.
"This is one of the finest jobs I've seen. I think the multinational companies may have to learn from this company. I don't have to advertise for them but I am very, very impressed by what I have seen with the ordinary man's eyes."
He tasked the company to ensure that its stretch of the project is commissioned before the end of the Buhari administration in 2023.
The 2023 Governorship hopeful also disclosed that while the cost of the entire project is N185 Billion, 79 Billion Naira is awarded to SEMARTECH Construction Company, 54 Billion Naira for Julius Berger and 50.2 Billion Naira for China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
He stated that he was equally impressed by the performance of Julius Berger and CCECC.
Interacting with the press, Site Engineer of SEMARTECH, Chibuzor Iheanacho reassured the Senator Enang and Nigerians that the firm would deliver and hand over the project for commissioning and full usage without unnecessary delay.
"We are working on 4 bridges, 3 in Cross River axis and 1 at the Akwa Ibom axis of the road. We have a total of 45 culverts on the Cross River axis, which about 25 culverts have been done, while, we have 1 on the Akwa Ibom axis and is completed. We at SEMARTECH are contracted for a coverage area of 11 kilometres stretch of the road between Cross River and the Akwa Ibom States, out of the entire 28.6 kilometres of the road project,” Iheanacho added.
Commuters including Eze Bishop, John Ekpenyong and Dr Mrs Margaret Henshaw Eyoh praised the federal government for releasing funds for the project and expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work done so far.
