AKWA IBOM STATE STATISTICS BILL 2022 PASSES SECOND READING
The Bill for a Law to Establish the Akwa Ibom State Bureau of Statistics and Akwa Ibom State Statistical System and for other Matters Connected therewith has passed through second reading.
The Bill, sponsored by the Leader of the House, Sir Udo Kierian Akpan (Oruk Anam), was considered on the floor of the House during Thursday Plenary.
Leading deliberations on the Bill, Sir Akpan encouraged Honourable Members to support the Bill through legislative procedures and ensure its speedy passage.
In his contribution, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Uko (Ibesikpo Asutan), who informed the House that he had sponsored a similar Bill, said a few sections should be polished and thereafter allowed to go through committee level to tie-in rough edges.
The session which was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Aniekan Bassey, had other members who unanimously supported the Bill.
Consequently, the Bill was Committed to the House Committee on Economic Planning for indepth study and to report back in two weeks.
Meanwhile, the House has adjourned plenary to Tuesday, July 19, 2022 by 10:00am.
