AKWA IBOM SPEAKER CONDOLES WITH AIDE OVER FATHER'S DEATH

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, condoled with one of his aides, Mr. Ekerete Sunday Edo,  over the demise of his father, Elder Sunday Umo Edo

Late Elder Sunday Umo Edo, was interred on Friday in Ukana Ikot Ide, Essien Udim Local Government Area, died at the age of 76.

In his condolence message, the Speaker described the deceased as a disciplinarian, a lover of God and a revered leader who committed his resources to the growth of his family, community and church. 

"Your late father was a disciplinarian and a lover of God. He was a revered leader who committed his resources to the growth of his family, community and church. He contributed positively to the wellbeing of all," he said.

The funeral service, which was conducted by Redeemed Ambassadors Apostolic Church, was well attended by sympathisers across the state.

Akwa Ibom Stakeholders reject Water Resources Bill

Citizen M.K.O A group of Akwa Ibom stakeholders comprising of traditional rulers politicians, academic dons, entrepreneurs, clerics, students and persons from other fields of endeavours have rejected the controversial Water Resources Bill. Converging at the auditorium of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council in Uyo, over the weekend the stakeholders, in a communique issued at the end of extensive deliberations featuring clause-by-clause analysis of the Bill, dismissed the Bill, describing it as oppressive and exploitative. The bill which was initially introduced and later rejected by the lawmakers during the 8th Assembly following public outcry, was reintroduced in the current 9th National Assembly in 2020. The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has charged Miss Joy Camillus and Mr Victor Thomas to make the virtue of sincerity the pillar and centre of their marriage. Rt. Hon. Bassey gave the charge on Saturday at Ikot Asua Village, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, where he led Honourable Members to witness the couple’s traditional marriage. While advising Mr. Victor, a native of Ikot Ekop in Mkpat Enin LGA, and his newly wedded wife, Joy, a native of Nsit Atai LGA, the Speaker said “sincerity and transparency are the ingredients that sustain marriage.
