2023: Let's focus on 'Project Akwa Ibom', not divisive politics - IPAC Secretary

As the 2023 general elections draw near,
Akwa Ibom people have been enjoined to abhor divisiveness, hatred and political violence, and rather embrace a collective sense of purpose.

This was handed down on Saturday by the State Secretary of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Rev Aniebiet Emmanuel, during a media chat in Uyo.

Emmanuel said those fanning the embers of disunity and violence ahead of the elections, are against the growth and progress of the state.
"Politics will come and go but Akwa Ibom State shall remain. Irrespective of where someone belongs to, whether Party A, Party B, or whatever political party, we have to know that Akwa Ibom State is our primary and paramount interest. We don't have to pull down the state because of politics. Let's focus on 'Project Akwa Ibom.' "

"In governance it is not all about my party and your party, in governance we must join hands to govern and build Akwa Ibom State, it is about the people first, not even about my party PRP but the generality of the people, Rev Emmanuel, who also doubles as the State Chairman of Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) added.

Rev Emmanuel stressed that the next administration in the state will have to build on the successes of the current administration, which he said would be properly documented by IPAC before the elections.

The IPAC scribe however advised the state government to focus on completing all ongoing projects before the completion of its tenure in May 2023.

Rev Emmanuel also said his party, the PRP, is ready for the 2023 elections, disclosing that it has candidates for Governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and 9 candidates in the House of Assembly race.
