Akwa Ibom Transporters vs.Transport Ministry & others: Court fixes January 11, 2022, for Motion

The Akwa Ibom State High Court sitting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital, has fixed January 11, 2022, for Motion On Notice in the case of Township Drivers Association of Nigeria versus some officers and agencies of the Akwa Ibom State Government.

The court had earlier frowned at agencies of the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Transport, for flouting of its restraining order against impoundment of commercial buses on grounds of non-compliance with the double biometrics capturing, multiple taxation and other inordinate levies, until the determination of the substantive case.

At the resumed sitting on Monday, Counsel to the drivers association, Usungurua Bassey Esq prayed the court for a nearby date for the motion to be heard.
His prayer was granted as the judge adjourned the matter to January 11, 2022.

The commissioner for Transport, Hon. Uno Etim Uno, was represented in court by Mrs. Ndifreke Adiakpan, an Assistant Chief Administrative Officer in the Ministry of Transport.
Other defendants in the matter were absent.
