IBIBIO ELDERS FORUM CONDOLES OBA OVER LOSS OF BROTHER, AIDES
A foremost socio-cultural organization in Akwa Ibom State, Adaha Ibibio (Ibibio Elders Forum) has commiserated with Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) and family over the loss of his younger brother, aide and security detail.
The Chairman of the Ibibio Elders Forum, Hon. (Dr.) Emmanuel Akpanobong, who led a delegation of members on a condolence visit to Senator Albert, the gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State, Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at his office in Uyo, described such losses as sad and painful.
The Chairman offered prayers of fortitude for Senator Albert and the entire bereaved families for the losses and wished the departed souls eternal rest.
"We are so touched by these sudden deaths. As a body, we came to commiserate with you and your family. May God give you all the fortitude to bear these irreplaceable losses. May their souls rest peaceable," he stated.
Dr. Akpanobong also used the occasion to appreciate Senator Albert for his unrelenting passion to render selfless services to the people, State and beyond.
"Since your days in the bank, you have helped a lot of people. You changed the face of banking. As a Commissioner for Finance in Akwa Ibom State, you helped people conceive ideas on how to be self-reliant and as Chairman, Inter-ministerial Direct Labour Coordinating Committee; your impact was well felt by many communities.
"In the Senate, your performances have been outstanding. We urge you to be strong. For sure, God has seen your labour of love for people, State and Nation, and will reward you accordingly," he added.
In his response, Senator Albert thanked Ibibio Elders Forum for the visit and reassured them of his firm belief that what have befallen him, his family and the entire Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organization was better understood by God.
While thanking them for the encomiums showered on him, OBA said, "I feel honoured and proud. I am further encouraged. When your contributions are recognized and encouraged, you are bound to do more for people as a vessel used by God to impact on the people. I seek your continued prayers for us all at these trying times."
He thereafter commended the Chairman of Adaha Ibibio (Ibibio Elders Forum), for his immeasurable passion for service and further referred to him as one of the most critical champions of the cause of the Ibibio people.
The Secretary General, Ibibio Elders Forum, Citizen Matthew Koffi Okono, while delivering the vote of thanks, prayed to God Almighty to grant the Senator and family the strength to weather the storm in this solemn moment.
He later reaffirmed Ibibio Elders Forum’s resolve to remain non-partisan in all their activities.
