Akwa Ibom @35: Aniekan Bassey Extols Past Leaders
The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has extolled Governor Udom Emmanuel and his predecessors for their immeasurable contributions and selfless services to the state in the last 35 years.
Rt. Hon. Bassey stated this on Friday while delivering a goodwill message during the 35th Anniversary celebration of Akwa Ibom at the Nest of Champion, Uyo.
While referencing Marissa Meyer, an American Novelist, Rt. Hon. Bassey, the 2023 PDP Candidate for Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District seat, said "Even in the future, the story begins with once upon a time. Once upon a time 35 years ago, the dreams of our forebears came to materialization. At the creation of Akwa Ibom State, we sang with joy as it was mentioned that the state will be the envy of other states. In due course, past leaders closed ranks and ensured that the state grew in lips and bounds. I commend them for such resilience and selflessness."
Speaking further, he said "Outside the late Akpan Isemin, Obong Victor Attah laid a solid foundation. Chief Godswill Akpabio built on that solid foundation. Governor Udom Emmanuel came onboard exactly seven years and six months ago, took the state by storm and put it on the world map of fame. Today, Ibom Air is Nigeria's pride. With what Udom Emmanuel has done so far, Akwa Ibom State is going places and the future is bright."
He urged the people of the state to continually toe the path of peace, unity and support the completion agenda of the Udom Emmanuel's administration as well as his succession.
