2023, Akwa Ibom Traditional Rulers and Pastor Umo Eno
By Umoh Etukudoh
Within the past few weeks, it has become a public knowledge that some unscrupulous elements, apparently on the payroll of their lazy political masters, have been feeding fat from a campaign of calumny, specifically to smear and attack the personality of the leading, most favoured and most loved governorship candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno and the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council.
Aside from gaining few Naira notes as reward, there is no benefit that can be derived from spewing unwarranted and ambiguous claims against the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council.
Rather than being engaged with impactful activities ahead of the 2023 elections, these political jobbers have decided to trade in falsehood and character assassination with the sole intention of bringing Pastor Umo Eno into conflict and political collision with our respected and revered traditional rulers. But they have failed woefully.
The latest is a jaundiced online publication by one Zion Eno Umoh wherein he labelled our esteemed royal fathers as unlearned and unexposed men who are struggling for survival by meddling into partisan politics.
One would have ignored such since it is coming from a notorious blackmailer and ex-convict whose romance with crime has not ended, as he is currently standing trial both in the United States of America and Nigeria; but for the sake of disabusing the minds of innocent members of the public, I wish to state unequivocally that the state traditional rulers council has committed no wrong in counselling and pouring blessing on Pastor Umo Eno.
The former American resident should know that Pastor Umo Eno, having been chosen by the governor and other political stakeholders, was only presented to the President General Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, Ntenyin Dr Solomon Daniel Etuk, who poured royal blessings on him, same way he does to other aspirants and candidates who have consulted the traditional institution.
Since he had to earn his pay, Zion Eno Umoh fought tooth and nail to further raise hallucinated claims that the royal fathers should not be using police officers as guards, shouldn't be living in mansions and shouldn't be driving exotic automobiles. Such claims reveals the unlearned and myopic state of that swindler's mind.
It is just a case of someone haunted by criminal hallucinations, venting spleen against men of honour who achieved fame and fortune long before he (blackmailer) was born.
Zion should know that the current set of Paramount Rulers are men who have made their marks in different fields of endeavours. Their net worth runs into good millions.
Such men cannot therefore be expected to live like peasants in the society. Besides that, a royal throne always have trappings of valour, splendour and wealth. Zion and his likes should learn about how royalty works.
Of course, we all should know that Pastor Umo Eno is a successful entrepreneur who at some point was an employee in the private sector.
These men are way above Zion Eno Umoh in all ramifications.
But, as laughable as the onslaught is, I am glad to inform him and his ilk that their orchestrated campaign of calumny has turned a booster that nourishes the polity for Pastor Umo Eno.
I wish to state with clarity of intention that the traditional institution in Akwa Ibom State has not derailed from being the bastion and custodian of our culture and tradition. The institution can never be distracted by juvenile and infantile political blackmailers.
Instead of throwing darts at the institution, Zion Eno Umoh and his faceless paymasters should equally consult the royal fathers and obtain their blessings.
As a core party man, I beseech Pastor Umo Eno to continue focusing on the ultimate goal which is the Akwa Ibom State hilltop mansion in 2023.
Our indefatigable supporters are set to vote in a leader who will continue with Governor Udom Emmanuel's benevolence to the traditional institution.
Pastor Umo Eno remains committed to the course of our party and well prepared to serve Akwa Ibom people diligently and purposefully.
