"We are in charge of 28.6km of the project. Dualization is ongoing with drains and asphalt work. As we move further, we have four different bridges on our stretch which we are working on. SEMARTECH portion starts at the power plant Odukpani down to Oku Iboku, then Julius Berger continues from there.
"The One Kilometer stretch from Oku Iboku up to Ayadehe bridge, we have already built it up to a point that we have done priming, so you'll see Bitumen prime there awaiting asphalt to be laid. Currently as we speak, asphalt test design is being tested by the laboratory in the Federal Ministry of Works for due process and quality assurance.
"Work is going on in three different bridges within the stretch. We have completed the piling work for Okpokom bridge which is about 260 metres - the longest we are handling. We have started producing precast beams and pile caps. Beyond that, we are constructing several culverts, we have up to 25 or so culverts along the stretch, we have dumped about 150,000 cubic metres of sand on the swampy section, we have done earthwork covering about 10 kilometers.
The quality of work we have shall speak well about us upon completion," he explained to news men.
Furthermore, Ukpata added that issues bordering on payment of compensation are currently being addressed so as to allow for speedy completion of the project.
On his part, Senator Ita Enang commended the firm on the level of work done so far and appealed to them not to slow down.
The 2023 governorship hopeful said the project is a further proof that President Muhammadu Buhari's administration means well for the South South, assuring that more federal projects would be done and completed in the region before the end of the tenure in 2023.
