TUMULTUOUS CROWD WELCOME 'OBA' TO YPP

...As Andy steps down for OBA

A tumultuous crowd of  supporters, friends, political associates and party faithful turned up today, ( July 30, 2022) to witness the official reception of Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) by the Young Progressives Party (YPP).

Numbering over 15,000, the people, dressed in resplendent attires sang, danced and chanted liberation songs to colourful tunes, making the event a near carnival.
Renditions ranged from the religious praises to political eulogies as well as folk songs.

Witnessed by some members of the national executive council of YPP led by its national chairman, Comrade Bishop Amakiri; members of the state exco led by Pastor Nnyenime Andy, the event signalled the seriousness of the party to take over the political power of Akwa Ibom State.

In his welcome remarks, Andy announced the birth of a new Akwa Ibom State. He said in every generation, there is a Nehemiah who rises to build the broken walls of the city.
Describing YPP as a third force, he said the party has come to produce the next governor of the state and the reign of other big parties has just ended.

He recalled that he picked the form of the party to serve the people but having seen a younger and more vibrant politician who is hungrier to serve, he tendered his resignation a few days ago to pave way for OBA to step in.

Justifying his decision further, Andy stated that just as OBA stepped down for someone years back, he (Andy) willingly stepped down for Senator OBA because it is his time to be governor.

Senator Andy Uba, a leader of YPP and guest of honour, said God destined that Akwa Ibom should be liberated through YPP.

He said having served under OBA in the senate for years as the Vice Chairman, Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), it was a sweet coincidence that the two of them now have to team up to take YPP to its zenith.

Uba promised to be fully involved in the subsequent campaigns in Akwa Ibom State.
