Rotary Club honours Engineer Ekanem Jnr


The Champion of UduakAbasi Project, Engr Bobby Ekanem has bagged an award of excellence service to humanity from the Rotary Club of Calabar-Unical, Cross River State. 

The Rotary family in a colourful event organized today, 23rd July, 2022 at Dome Event Centre, Calabar Municipal Council to mark the installation of Akparawa Kingsley S Akpan_Amb P as the club's 9th President, honoured Engr Ekanem for his outstanding selfless contributions to the promotion of good governance, economic growth and human capital development in Nigeria.

In his response, Engr Ekanem who is the Director of Operations and Strategy in Basse Engineering & Michel Company Limited, Uyo, thanked the leadership of Rotary Club for the honour bestowed on him. He charged the teeming members of the Rotary Club to put the forthcoming elections in the country top in their agenda through partnership with their international members to rescue Nigeria from its current challenges.

While making a cash donation to support the programmes of the club, Ekanem also expressed his readiness to join the club to further deliver on his passion to advance humanitarian activities for the benefit of mankind, and requested to be furnished with membership requirements.

The event was well attended by many individuals from the various fields of human endeavors.

CITATION OF ENGINEER BOBBY EKANEM

Engr Bobby Ekanem is one of Nigeria's most accomplished youths, a political activist, thought leader, philanthropist, with long career in civil engineering business in the non government sector.

Born in Uyo on August 31, 1991, Engr Ekanem, a native of Ikot Esia, Oku Iboku Clan, Itu Local Government Area attended Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State between 2009 and 2014 Where he obtained a bachelor degree (B.Sc) in civil engineering with a Second Class Honours, upper division.

As a man of distinction, with passion and immeasurable love for education, he got admitted into the University College London (UCL) from where he got a Masters Degree (M.Sc) in Engineering Economics in 2016.

Following the completion of his one year mandatory national youth service in Kogi State, during which he taught Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing in a secondary school, he was appointed into one of the country's most reputable construction firms, Basse Engineering company, uyo, where he currently serves as Director of Operations.

He is a member of Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).

As a hardworking and pragmatic young man, Engr Ekanem believes in the potentials and abilities of the youths. He loves to be of service to humanity with numerous human and community impact to his name and company.

Engr Ekanem's passion for service and his good leadership disposition motivated him to contest to represent Itu State Constituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly in the just concluded PDP primaries in the State. He is aspiring to one day become the governor of Akwa Ibom State with special interest in creating sustainable wealth, where every Akwa Ibomites would be proud.

Being a team player, exciting and sociable personality, he is a member of the famous Uyo Club 1935, Red Cross Society (RCS), and Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), with several awards from various organizations to his credit.

Engr Bobby Ekanem is a strong advocate of good governance and youths participation in leadership. He upholds hardwork, discipline, honesty, generosity, and fairness as his core principles.

Akwa Ibom Stakeholders reject Water Resources Bill

Citizen M.K.O A group of Akwa Ibom stakeholders comprising of traditional rulers politicians, academic dons, entrepreneurs, clerics, students and persons from other fields of endeavours have rejected the controversial Water Resources Bill. Converging at the auditorium of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council in Uyo, over the weekend the stakeholders, in a communique issued at the end of extensive deliberations featuring clause-by-clause analysis of the Bill, dismissed the Bill, describing it as oppressive and exploitative. The bill which was initially introduced and later rejected by the lawmakers during the 8th Assembly following public outcry, was reintroduced in the current 9th National Assembly in 2020.
