Yesterday the only credible party in Akwa Ibom State and by extension Nigeria held it's ward meeting across the over 300 wards in the 31 LGAs of the state. The aim of the congress was for party faithfuls at the grassroot to feel the pulse of the party, air their concerns, be in tune with the programs of the party at the state and national level, synergize for electoral victory, reconcile aggrieved members, welcome decampees from other mushrooms and so called opposition parties and encourage their members to register for permanent voter's card (PVC).
Every political candidate of the party, leader and stakeholder was asked to go back home and attend the meeting with his people taking the message of the Governor, His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel as leader of the party and that of the state party leadership to the people.
With this mandate and in consonant with his avowed principle of people centered, grassroot representation the candidate of the party in Nsit Atai for the State House of Assembly seat, Prince Aniefiok Attah went home to his people.
The Ward meeting in Eastern Nsit Ward 8 can not be described as a mere Ward meeting because the ambience was that of a carnival. Passersby would easily take it to be a political campaign or a reception for an illustrious son and oh yes it was indeed a reception for an illustrious son; the Odot-Ukana of Nsit Ata, Prince Aniefiok Attah.
The Ward center saw a conglomerate of party faithfuls, non party people, opposition party members and people of all walks and life gathered to celebrate and receive Prince Aniefiok Attah. A testament to the sterling quality of the candidate and the wide acceptance of his candidature and the party; PDP.
In setting the tone for the meeting, the PDP ward chairman intimated all present that PDP as a party is committed to enhancing the livelihood of the people and delivering democratic dividends and made know that the party at the state is committed to spiraling down benefits to committed members even at the villages level. He mentioned that the meeting is at the directive of the state leadership to further robust engagement of party members. He admonish everyone to get their PVC ready to vote PDP, preach the gospel of PDP and it's candidates and remain committed to the party. He admonish those who contested nominations for various elective positions and indeed everyone to embrace togetherness and work collectively for the success of the party and shun anti-party activities, adding that this time is for party politics. He also enjoined those who got the party's ticket to embrace everyone and work with everybody despite level of support during nominations.
In his remarks, the PDP candidate for Nsit Atai State Constituency: Prince-Aniefiok Attah who was visibly elated at the large turn out and rousing reception accorded him upon his arrival in his hometown, praised the people of ward 8 and all of Nsit Atai under the PDP family for the faith reposed in him by mandating him to represent the people of Nsit Atai in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly come 2023. He particularly appreciated the political leader of Nsit Atai: Otuekong Raphael Bassey and the incumbent member representing Nsit Atai in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly and House of Representatives Candidate for Uyo Federal Constituency: Rt. Hon. (Elder) Mark Esset for standing with him and the people of Ibedu to ensure equity is done in the rotation of the State Constituency Seat. He also thanked other notable leaders and clans in Nsit Atai for ensuring Ibedu takes it's turn. He made it empathetically clear that he will be a representative of the entire people of Nsit Atai and that everyone has and will always have unfettered access to him. He encourage anyone that has ideas concerning the growth and development of Nsit Atai not to hesitate in reaching out to him. He equally called on all those who were his opponents during the nomination stage to come onboard and let build together, he made it known that he has welcome everyone back to his team as sons and daughters of Nsit Atai. He announced that for every perceived misgivings people might have against him, he is sorry and asked that his apologies be accepted while also declaring that he has forgiven all those who might have wronged him in any way whatsoever.
He admonish everyone one to go get their PVC and to encourage their relatives and friends to get PVC. He charged party faithfuls to stick with the party that good times are here again promising to ensure that during his time everyone enjoys democracy and party politics. He further cautioned against anti-party activities and asked his supporters and everyone from ward 8 and Nsit Atai to vote PDP in this manner: House of Assembly - Prince Aniefiok Attah, House of Representatives - Rt. Hon. Mark Esset, Uyo Senatorial District - Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, Governorship - Umo Bassey Eno and President - His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. He announced that he will come back to say a prover and massive thank you to ward 8.
On his part, the House of Representatives Candidate and incumbent House of Assembly member for Nsit Atai, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset said he was happy to see the large crowd of party faithful and even see faces of those he hasn't for years in the political sphere which was attributed to the person of Prince Aniefiok Attah. Elder Mark announced that he has forgiven anyone who didn't support him and prayed that he should be forgiven too for any perceived wrong in the course of nominations electioneering and his stewardship as representative of the people. He mentioned that ward 8 is blessed with a man like Prince Aniefiok Attah and that they should zealously and jealously guard it with all their might.
The Local Government Chapter Chairman of PDP in Nsit Atai on his part was more of short of words as he said that among all the wards visited he hasn't seen such a large crowd of party members. He passed the message of the state chairman of the party, making the party faithfuls know that there is currently a well designed reward system for loyal and committed party members. That the era of subjugating a member that is committed for another less committed members is over. He said he was asked to tell everyone that PVC is mandatory for us to continue winning and delivering on the dividends of governance to the people and if we must get PDP back to power at the National. He appealed to any aggrieved party members to embrace peace and work with the party to ensure success at the polls promising that everyone will be accommodated as the Umbrella is big enough. He said that on the whole he is happy with the large turn out and commended Prince Aniefiok Attah for courting the goodwill of his people.
Several speakers who spoke were full of praises to PDP for giving Ibedu and ward 8 the House of Assembly ticket and expressed confidence that Price Aniefiok Attah will not disappoint as he is a man of proven integrity.
Highpoint of the meeting was the pledge by the people of ward 8, Nsit Atai to vote massively for PDP and all it's candidates as follo: Prince Aniefiok Attah - House of Assembly; Rt. Hon. Mark Esset - House of Representatives; Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey - Uyo Senatorial District; Umo Bassey Eno - Governorship and His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for President.
