PDP CHAIRMAN RESIGNS IN SENATOR OBA'S WARD
The wave of defection rocking the Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has not waned, with the Chairman, Ibiono Ibom Eastern Ward (1) One, Hon. Aniekamauwem Asuquo, being the latest to leave the party.
In his resignation letter dated July 21, 2022, Hon Asuquo stated that the decision was taken after due consultations with his wife, family members, friends and well wishers.
He thanked Senator Bassey Albert and wife, Pastor Mrs Imaobong Bassey Albert, Ibiono Ibom Eastern Ward One Elders Forum, PDP Ward Chairmen's Forum, and members of the PDP for their support over the years.
"I acknowledge the support of my cousin being my political leader, Sen. Albert Bassey Akpan 'OBA' and wife for their love, care and advice, since when he was appointed a Commissioner for Finance, Akwa Ibom State. Although the enemies tried to distract my attention and injure me, I called it temptation of the ill-wishers of progress and political sycophants.
"Secondly, I thank the leadership and the members of the Elders Forum of Ibiono Eastern One, the Executives and the members of our dear party P.D.P for their support and cooperation over the years. Through their support, we were able to produce a voice and a performing Senator in the National Assembly.
"To my colleagues as the Secretary Ward Chairmen Forum Ibiono Ibom Chapter, I say thank you for all the trust and confidence you entrusted to me during our staying together in the same political party. We have established a relationship which I believe we will use for the betterment of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area in the nearest future," the letter reads in part.
Governorship hopeful, Senator Bassey Albert, who recently left PDP for Young Progressives Party (YPP), also hails from Eastern Ibiono Ibom Ward (1) One.
