DR. CHARITY IDO: A CHARACTER OF SERVICE

The role of lawmaking is averse to absenteeism; its requires members active participation and involvement to drive home the needed results.

And so, Hon. Charity Ido, PhD, was today, as always, spotted in her elements during the day's plenary session. 

As an ideal legislator she's proven to be overtime, Dr. Ido who heads the House Committee on Public Accounts, has never been found wanting in the House. Her committee is not just the busiest but most effective in the discharge of its oversight responsibility.

No wonder, dispassionate followers and keen observers of the 7th dispensation of the House couldn't help but confer on her the unwritten epithet of the 7th Assembly's Legislative Amazon.

This undying passion in service could be seen in the Lawmaker's every port of call and thus passes her for an unrepentant woman of excellent service!

Akwa Ibom Stakeholders reject Water Resources Bill

Citizen M.K.O A group of Akwa Ibom stakeholders comprising of traditional rulers politicians, academic dons, entrepreneurs, clerics, students and persons from other fields of endeavours have rejected the controversial Water Resources Bill. Converging at the auditorium of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council in Uyo, over the weekend the stakeholders, in a communique issued at the end of extensive deliberations featuring clause-by-clause analysis of the Bill, dismissed the Bill, describing it as oppressive and exploitative. The bill which was initially introduced and later rejected by the lawmakers during the 8th Assembly following public outcry, was reintroduced in the current 9th National Assembly in 2020. The Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has charged Miss Joy Camillus and Mr Victor Thomas to make the virtue of sincerity the pillar and centre of their marriage. Rt. Hon. Bassey gave the charge on Saturday at Ikot Asua Village, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, where he led Honourable Members to witness the couple’s traditional marriage.
