Ime Silas becomes AAC Guber Candidate in Akwa Ibom

A professional engineer and long-standing politician, Hon. Ime Anthony Silas has emerged as the 2023 governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Akwa Ibom State.

He recorded a landslide victory during the nomination exercise held on Tuesday in Uyo, the state capital.

The exercise was duly monitored by party officials and representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies.

Speaking after the exercise, the candidate expressed thanks to the delegates for trusting him with their mandate.

He promised to lead Akwa Ibom State to economic prosperity and sustainable development if elected in 2023.

Furthermore, he called on members of the public to register enmasse for Permanent Voters Cards, assuring them that their votes will count in 2023.

State Chairman of the party, Hon Elder Fred Obot congratulated the party's flagbearer and tasked him to be a worthy ambassador of the party in the 2023 race.

The party chairman stated that the party is waxing stronger in the state given the influx of persons who have registered in the party in the past few months.

Akan Okon vs. Umo Eno: Prof Jideoni petitions security agencies against blogger for libel

Professor Jideoni Charles, a Professor of Professor of Graphognomy (Handwriting Analysis), Professor of English Language, and a linguist, has petitioned security agencies against an Uyo based blogger, Wisdom Bassey, over alleged libel. Prof Jideoni had carried out forensic investigation into the West African Examination Council certificate tendered by the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Pastor Umo Eno, before the Federal High Court sitting in Uyo, in his case against governorship aspirant, Mr Akan Okon, and adjudged same as unoriginal. The petition, as sighted by newsmen over the weekend, condemned a "damaging false report carried out by one Mr Wisdom Bassey who works online with Newsline9ja.com on the account of slander and libel against me in a newspaper publication by GLOBAL PILOT earlier this year."
